Star Trek Convention Filled With Nerds
Seattle, WAAt a recent convention for Star Trek fans, a majority of the attendees were categorized as nerds. Bill King, the head of the convention, had this to say: "An overwhelming representation of the nerdal community has come out to support their love for the spacial phenomenon we know as Star Trek on this Stardate: 2001.1". When looking at the numbers, a whopping 96% of the paid attendance comes from nerds. The other 4% were normal people, guest appearances, and pets dressed up like Tribbles. Most normal people do not attend these conferences because they feel out of place. They usually have a hard time adjusting to the atmosphere when they show up in just a Star Trek T-shirt and a backpack instead of the full regalia that the nerds wear. "It's the only place in the world us nerds can feel at home", King said. "Here and our clubhouses, but most of the nerds who attend the conferences usually don't have the strength to climb up a plum tree to get back into those houses."
Sources say that the reason why there was such a high nerd turn out to this Seattle convention was the amount of guest speakers booked for the event. The list of guests included a Klingon, a woman who played an extra on the Rock Monster episode from the original Star Trek, and an alien with a few more bumps on his forehead than a human would have.
